Mothers sometimes find it easier to have a baby-sitter at home rather than send her little baby
to a day-care center. Here are the most important points to be considered
while you employ one:
1. Does she have a valid recommendation? It should be from one of her
earlier employers or a day-care center.
2. If she is new to baby-sitting, first of all know if she is over 18
years of age.
3. Secondly, spend about 4 months at home during which time the
baby-sitter gets trained and accustomed to your baby before you leave for
work.
4. Always insist that she makes a log of whatever she has given the baby,
the duration for which the baby sleeps and all the other activities she
was involved in through the day.
5. Leave your and your spouse's telephone numbers with her and ask her to
call you immediately if there is a need.
6. Get your neighbors to stay watchful of excessive crying by the baby or
too much noise from the TV or music system. If possible get them to come
over to your place once in a while to check out.
7. if you do not have much help or support from neighbors it might help
if you have a hidden camera fixed at home.
